Hazrat Sheikh Alauddin Ali Ahmed As-Sabir ( ) was an Islamic
Sufi. He was a member of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz Ajmeri's Chisti Silsila (). He
was a great Sufi who is venerated by both Hindus and Muslims. Kaliyar, in the
town of Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India, is where he is resting.
Hazrat Saif-ud-din Abdul Wahab ( ), the son of Ghous Pak (
), was born on the 17th Shahban 512 Hijri, between the two evening prayers
Maghrib and Isha. He obtained and accomplished all worldly and spiritual
knowledge from Ghous Pak ( ) in eleven years and thereafter began teaching
himself. His disciples are also known as Sabri. Every year, millions of people
in Kaliyar celebrate his Urs.
Birth: The name "Ali Ahmed" was chosen in
accordance with the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad's prophesy, Hazrat Ali Haider-e-Kar'rar,
and Hazrat Khizar. His father died a few years after he was born. Hazrat Sabir
was then conveyed by his mother to her brother, Baba Fareed, in Pak Pattan
Sharif. He swore his discipleship to Baba Fareed there.
Hazrat Abdul Raheem Abdul Salam Shah ( ) was Hazrat Ali
Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari's ( ) father, and Syed Abdul Wahab ( ) was Hazrat Ali
Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari's ( ) grandfather. Syed Abdul Wahab ( ) was the son of
Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Meboob-e-Subhani Hasan-o-Hussaini ( ). Hazrat Sabir (
) Pak was Hazrat Baba Fareed-ud-Din Masood Ganje Shakar's ( ) nephew, disciple
(Mureed), son-in-law, and successor (Khalifa). According to some historians,
the paternal genealogy of Hazrat Baba Fareed ( ) belongs to Hazrat Umer Farooq
( ), while others trace his pedigree back to Abdullah, the son of Imam Muhammad
al-Baqir ( ), the grandson of Imam Hussain ( ).
Marriage: His marriage tale is quite interesting. His mother
finally arrived from Harat and asked her brother to marry his daughter to her
son. "He has nothing to do with marriage," Baba Farid( ) answered. He
is engrossed in contemplation and amazement." According to her sister.
"You decline the request as an excuse because he is an orphan." As a
result of this, Baba Farid( ) married away his daughter, Khadija( ), to him.
When the bride visited the room throughout the night, she found him lost in
prayer. When he was finished, he inquired as to her identity. "Your
wife!" she exclaimed.
According to Hazrat Makhdoom ( ). "How can he fit two
in my heart?" I've already reduced it to one." A fire engulfed the
bride as he spoke the words.

Becoming Sabri: Baba Fareed ( ) entrusted him with the job
of food distribution (Langar). He gladly accepted this duty and spent his time
praying in between. He handled his responsibilities properly and also attended
Baba Freed Ganje Shakar's ( ) talk. He did not eat anything (Langer), kept
fasts, and went to the jungle to eat wild berries and leaves. He served his
time for 12 years. He prayed incessantly, and his abstentions were never
broken. He became feeble as a result of his frequent and prolonged fasting and
use of leaves and wild foods. When his mother saw him again, she complained to
his brother (Baba Fareed) about his weakness. Baba Fareed ( ) summoned him and
inquired as to the reason. "You ordered me to distribute the food and not
to partake in it," Sabir Pak () responded. Baba Fareed ( ) joyfully
embraced him and said, "He is SABIR (Patient)". He became famous as
"SABIR" from that day on.
Spiritual Education: He spent many years of his life with
Baba Fareed ( ) and received religious and spiritual aspirations from Baba
Fareed ( ). Then Baba Fareed Masood Ganje Shakar ()made him Khalifa (Successor)
and sent him to Kaliyar (an Indian city in the province of Uttarakhand).
Ala-ud-Din Khilji was the King at the time. His presence was the source of
numerous Miracles. His tomb, also known as the "Piran-e-Kaliyar
Sharif," is located in Kaliyar, near the Ganges River and seven km from
Roorkee. His shrine serves as a spiritual focal point and source of benefits
for Saints, Successors, Followers, and people worldwide. This order is known as
the "Chisti Sabri Order" due to his reference and relationship.
Silsila: Silsila's Chishtia Sabria: The Order of the Chishti
Sabri The order (Silsila-e-wala'et) began with Hazrat Ali Haider-e-Kar'rar ( ),
and this spiritual order was passed down through Khawaja Hasan Basri ( ). This
spiritual order spread to Chisht (the name of a town) through the descendants
of Khawaja Hasan Basri (). Khawaja Abu Ishaq Shami Chishti ( ) was a saint of
this order as well as the head of the Chishti Order. He was also known as
"Sar-e-Chishtian". Khawaja Abu Ishaq Shami Chishti ( ) was born in
the town of "Chisht" and was known as Chishti as a result. This
Chisti Order reached a great saint, Khawaja Moen-ud-Din Hasan Chishti Ajmeri (
), and his successors, Khawaja Qutab-ud-Din Bukhtiar Kaki Aoshi ( ) and Baba
Fareed-ud-Din Masood Ganje Shakar ( ) of Pak Pattan Sharif, after many stages and
through famous saints.
There are so many successors of Baba Fareed-ud-Din Masood
Ganje Shakar ( ) that it is hard to count them all. However, Baba Fareed Ganje
Shakar's "Qutabs" (holy mendicants) number twenty-two (22).
Sultan-ul-Aolia Khatum-ul-Arwah Syed Makhdum Ala-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir
Kaliyari ( ) and Mehboob-e-Elahi Khawaja Nizam-ud-Din Aulia ( ) are the most
prominent religious and spiritual Qutabs.
"Chishti Nizami" are Khawaja Nizam-ud-Din Aulia's
successors and followers. "Chishti Sabri" refers to the successors
and followers of Makhdum Ala-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir ( ).
Silsila's Successors: This Chishti Sabri Order and its
blessings reached Hazrat Pir Saidan Shah Sabri ( )of Kalas Sharif near
Malikwal, District Sargodha (Pakistan) through Syed Mardan Ali Shah Chishti
Sabri ( ), who was a successor of Syed Ahmed Shah ( ). Darbar Sabri Kalas
Sharif disseminates the blessings and spirituality of the Chishti Sabri Order
to its followers and the general public. Pir Saidan Shah Sabri ( ) and his son
Pir Gulzar Hussain Shah Sabri ( ) carried on the mission of Hazrat Makhdum
Sabir Pak. They dedicated their entire lives to completing this task. Pir
Shamim Sabir Sabri (Saint of Darbar Sabri Kalas Sharif), son of Pir Gulzar
Hussain Shah Sabri, is currently disseminating the spiritual graces of the
Chishti Sabri Order to Makhdum Sabir followers. In truth, "Kalas
Sharif" is intimately connected to "Kaliyar Sharif" and is a
sacred spot for Makhdum Sabir Piya's grace and blessings.
The Sabri Silsila is also being propagated in Pakistan and
around the world by Hazrat Abu Anees Muhammad Barkat Ali ( ), rector of
Darulehsan, Faisalabad. He had a detailed biography of Hazrat Sabir ( ) (whom
he refers to as his'spiritual guide') written by one of his mureeds (Haji Mohammed
Bashir Ambalvi), which is available in both Urdu and English.
Successors: Among his successors are Khawaja Shams-ud-Din
Turk Pani Pati ()(Panipat), Shah Abdul Qud'doos Gangohi (), Hazrat Shah
Jalal-ud-Din (), Hazrat Noor-ul-Haq Ahmed Abdul Haq (), Hazrat Shah Mohammad
Arif (), Mustafa Ahmed Abdul Haq (), However, only Hazrat Khawaja Shams-Ud-Din
Turk Pani Pati ( ) was appointed Khalifa (successor) during his lifetime. He
used to question Hazrat Sabir Piya ( ) on the distinction between Fana (End of
Life) and Ba'qa (Existence). Hazrat Sabir Piya told him that if he performed
his first Karamat on that day, he would die.
Fana and Ba'qa: Most of the time when Sufi-Saints teach
their disciples the lesson and meaning of Fana and Ba'qa, the story or
illustration comes from a clear incident of Hazrat Sabir Piya (). The story or
example of Fana (Extinction, Annihilation) and Ba'qa (Eternal life in
connection with Allah) is taught using the dying episode of Hazrat Sabir Pak
(). Before he died, he told his disciples that no one should touch his body
after he died.
No one will give him a burial bath, and no one will bury
him, but they (disciples) should wait until a man riding a horse in white robes
comes and bathes his body; before then, no one should touch the body, or they
will perish. On his death day, it happened in the same way Jesus told the
disciples to be silent, wondering who would give him a burial bath, etc.,
despite the fact that they had done nothing. After an hour, the individuals in
his congregations who had been assigned to attend his burial heard the sound of
a horse approaching, and within a few minutes, they saw a figure dressed in
white riding a horse.
The horseman came down and carried Hazrat Sabir Piya's ( )
dead body and went inside a cottage and took some water and gave him the
funeral wash; everyone was astonished and perplexed as to who he was and what
was going on inside the cottage. following a while, he alone drags the dead
corpse out and begins forming rows for his funeral prayer, following which he
burys his dead body and prepares to go. At that point, Sabir's student stopped
him and requested, "Who are you, oh lucky person, who gave bath to our
master, please show us your face?" But the horse man refused to expose his
face, so they asked again.
So the horseman lowers his curtain from his face, and the
assembly sees that it was none other than Sabir Piya ( ) himself. They asked,
"Hazrat, what is this?" Hazrat Sabir Piya ()responded and taught them
the meaning of the question Fana and Ba'qa, that what you just saw the body
that's (Fana) it has to be layer with soil again and it shall perish, but this
what you see now is (Ba'qa) never perishing the spirit, spirit that Allah gave
me that came from heaven, and saying this he disappeared. So this was the
answer to a query made by one of his pupils one day about the meaning of Fana
and Ba'qa, which he fulfilled and demonstrated to them.

Urs is celebrated with great pomp on three main dates: the
13th, 14th, and 15th of the Holy month of Rabi-ul-awwal in Kaliyar Sharif. The
head priest returns to his old dwelling (in Kaliyar village) after seeing the
Rabi-ul-awwal moon. He reads the Khatam Sharif inside the chamber and walks out
with a plate on his head. Mehandi and Dori are on the platter. He then proceeds
to the Dargah to read the Fatiha. The Dori is then handed to everyone.
Qawwali-e-Makhdum Ali Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari ( ) (Salaam on Hazrat Sabir Piya)
are performed at the Dargah, and the atmosphere is joyous.
